Feedback from the UCML sub-committee on good practice is as follows. The following factors were viewed positively in the UCML small grants sub-committee when all applications were reviewed against the success criteria:

  1. Evidence of pipeline or seed corn applications being sought to support larger potential projects
  2. Matched funding from other sources
  3. Evidence of a commitment to public engagement and full public access to events.
  4. A focus on raising the profile of UCML and its languages mission amongst younger researchers and the next generation of students
  5. Interdisciplinary links with and for languages
