Thanks to the British Council, I had the opportunity to work in Spain this academic year (2019/2020) as a language assistant. This placement, which required very little of my time, provided me with the funds to live and travel in Spain which greatly improved my language skills, cultural awareness and personal development. In addition to this, I gained valuable teaching experience and professional skills which will go towards my future PGCE application. Without the British Council, it would have been far more difficult to find a reliable language assistant post. I likely would not have have considered working abroad if it were not for them. Due to my positive experience, I was intending on applying for a language assistant role with them again and have recommended the organisation to other people.
