The annual UCML survey of modern language provision in UK universities was this year carried out with the Association of Language Communities in the UK & Ireland (AULC). 53 institutions responded to the survey, which asked questions around modern language degree provision, institution-wide language programmes, the impact of the pandemic and Brexit on language teaching, and Routes into Languages.
The findings of the survey report reflect the diversity of the modern languages community in the UK, capturing details of credit-bearing language provision not included in UCAS/HESA data, and demonstrating the creative ways in which institutions have responded to what has been an extraordinary year.
