UCML is delighted to launch a new Special Interest Group (SIG) for Heads of Languages.

The SIG will bring together Heads and Directors of Schools/Departments of Languages to liaise on challenges and opportunities for the sector, to exchange best practice, and to discuss strategy. The SIG will report to the UCML Steering Group and Executive Committee, and the SIG Chair will be a member of the Exec Committee.

The SIG will be chaired by David Cowling. David is currently Head of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University, having previously served as PVC and Head of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and as Director of the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies. His research and teaching interests are focused on the literature and culture of late medieval and early modern France, and on ideologies of language in early modern Europe.
