UCML is delighted to announce our new Membership Secretary.

Dr Sandra Salin is Senior Lecturer in French, teaching at all undergraduate levels, Admissions Lead and Director of Education at Newcastle University School of Modern Languages. She has just been selected to act as Deputy Head of School from September 2023.
Sandra holds a PhD in French Area Studies (2000) and a Certificate in Advanced Studies in Academic Practice (2012). She has over 30-year language teaching experience in a variety of contexts, ranging from primary and secondary schools to businesses, adult and lifelong learning centres, and universities. She is also a Senior Fellow of Advanced HE, a member of the Executive Committee of the newly created Association of French Teachers in Further and Higher Education in the UK, and a member of the Association for French Language Studies. She has also been external examiner since 2009, reviewer for Routledge Language Learning since 2014, and External Assessor for the Open University since 2022.
Having organised many events, including international conferences and training sessions, Sandra is looking forward to being able to support the work of UCML as Membership Secretary. Members and memberships are key to UCML’s mission of representing diverse views and voices, sharing information, and responding together to the multiple challenges Modern Languages are facing.
