Launch events for The Languages Gateway website kick off next week (18 October 2023) with an event at the British Academy. The event will welcome 100 guests from across the whole spectrum of the languages community from schools and exam boards to civil servants and private enterprise.
Guests will also represent policy, teaching, and research in all languages including sign language, classical languages, English, regional languages, home languages, and all levels from primary to adult learning.
Speakers include Kate Ewart-Biggs from the British Council, Professor Charles Forsdick on the national languages strategy developments, and Philip Harding-Esch to showcase the Languages Gateway website. Secunder Kerman from Channel 4 News will be a guest speaker to describe his own personal relationship with language learning.
Further launch events are taking place on-line throughout November with a focus on each of Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England.
