UCFL is pleased to welcome JC Penet as the new representative for Translation and Interpreting. JC is a Reader in Translation Industry Studies at Newcastle University. As UCFL’s new T&I Rep, he is keen to champion the continued strategic importance of translation and interpreting studies (TIS) in the age of generative AI. To that aim, he will bring his former experience as President of APTIS (Association of Programmes in Translation and Interpreting Studies, UK & Ireland) as well as his long-standing links with both industry stakeholders (ITI, CIOL, ATC) and TIS associations (EST, IATIS) to the role. First and foremost, though, he wants to make sure that TIS colleagues feel their views are fully represented through UCFL.
Welcome JC!
